Maryland Insurance

Maryland, also known as the Old Line State and the Free State, is one of the Atlantic coast states of the United States of America. It borders on the Atlantic Ocean to the east, and the Potomac River forms most of the western boundary of the state. The Chesapeake Bay forms a deep indentation on the eastern section of Maryland. The District of Columbia, where the US capital – Washington DC, is located, forms an enclave in the western part. Maryland entered the Union in 1788, as the seventh of the original 13 states of the Union.

The state economy was based mainly on tobacco production in the past, and went through a manufacturing boom in the later half of the 19th century. Today, the Maryland economy depends mainly on the service industries such as Maryland auto insurance, Maryland life insurance, Maryland health insurance, and Maryland Home Insurance, among others, as well as the government sector. Almost 90% of the forests in the state are commercial timberland and the main manufactured products include processed foods, electric and electronic equipment, primary metals, and chemicals.  These types of industries prompt employers to insure their employees under adequate Maryland health insurance and Maryland life insurance policies, as many of these industries require a certain risk to a person’s life and health.

Maryland has an area of 12,297 square miles and the tidal shoreline, including the Chesapeake Bay, extends for 3,190 miles. The state geography is divided into five regions, all extending into neighboring states. The Atlantic Coastal Plain is divided into the Eastern and Western Shores by Chesapeake Bay. The Piedmont Plateau region and The Blue Ridge region are full of rolling with Dug Hill Ridge being the highest. The Allegheny Plateau has more rounded ridges and wider valleys. Rivers include the Potomac and the Susquehanna, and there are no large natural lakes. Maryland has a humid subtropical climate, except on the Allegheny Plateau, which has a humid temperate climate with winter temperatures below freezing.

Although Maryland’s climate and weather conditions tend to include the typical occasional thunderstorm and snowstorm, Maryland auto insurance and Maryland home insurance is still a necessity and required under law.  Many of the homes in the Maryland area are considerable in price and value making these Maryland insurance policies a requirement to protect these assets.
