Wisconsin Insurance

Wisconsin is also known as 'The Badger State'. This nickname is probably derived from the word 'wishkonsing' in Ojibwa, which means 'place of the beaver'. Bordered by Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and Michigan, the state has Lake Michigan and Lake Superior also among its boundaries. It entered the Union as the 30th state on the 29th of May 1848. It has an area of 65,498 square miles and a population (2000) of 5,363,675. The state capital is Madison and the largest city is Milwaukee.

Topographically, Wisconsin has 46% land coverage by forests that include the 1.5 million acre Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. Along Lake Superior there’s a belt of fertile land. Moving south one encounters the huge forest area dotted with thousands of glacial lakes. The middle part of the state has rich farmland and also beautiful sandstone rock formations, like the Dells of the Wisconsin river, which have thousands of tourists flocking to admire the scenic beauty by traversing the waterways. The diverse landscape marks the state as a popular tourist destination for outdoor recreation.

In spite of manufacturing, health care and agriculture acting as drivers of the economy, the state is mostly viewed as a farming state on account of the highly developed dairy industry. It is the national leader in cheese production and trails just behind California in overall dairy produce. It is also the top producer of silage corn, and cranberries, snap beans, ginseng for processing. It is among the leading producers of oats, carrots, potatoes, tart cherries, sweet corn and maple syrup for processing.

Thus, it is not surprising that with such a strong agricultural tradition, the manufacturing sector also focuses on food processing. Famous brands like Tombstone, Oscar Mayer and Usinger have Wisconsin lineage in production. Today, the state has more diversity with health care products and machine manufacturing occupying leading positions.

In a highly developed agricultural and industrial scene, insurance assumes a very important position. In Wisconsin, all forms of insurance including Wisconsin Life Insurance, Wisconsin Health Insurance, Wisconsin Auto Insurance and Wisconsin Home Insurance are subject to regulation under the authority of the Commissioner of Insurance, Wisconsin.  It is imperative that all residents of the state of Wisconsin take advantage of this regulation in the state and take advantage of the Wisconsin insurance rates and options that are made available through the state, their employers and various Wisconsin insurance resources.
