Idaho Insurance

The State of Idaho is located in the Pacific Northwest of the United States and carries the nickname 'Gem State' due to an abundance of natural resources. It was admitted to the Union on the 3rd of July 1890 as the 43rd State. It has a low-density population with a total strength below 1.4 million as per 2004 statistics. Boise is the capital and also the largest city of the state.

Idaho has an area of over 83000 square miles with Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada, Oregon, Washington and British Columbia of Canada as its boundaries. It is an important agricultural state and produces nearly one third of the potatoes grown in the US. Other agricultural produce includes lentils, sugar beets, beans, wheat, barley, cattle and dairy products.

The state industrial sector consists of industries in food processing, machinery, lumber and wood products, paper products, electronics manufacturing, chemical products, mining (silver and other minerals) and tourism. It is interesting to know that Idaho is home to the largest factory for barrel cheese in the world. The factory has a huge production capacity of a 120,000 tons of barrel cheese per year. With this large variety of industries located in the state, employers must provide their employees with adequate Idaho health and life insurance. 

Topographically the state has a rugged landscape consisting of some of the largest unspoiled natural areas with captivating scenic beauty. Snow capped mountain ranges, placid lakes, steep canyons, rapids and waterfalls offer wonderful opportunities to vacationers with adventurous leanings.

The state's extreme variations in elevations ranging from 738 feet at the confluence of the Snake and Clearwater Rivers to 12,655 of Mount Bora are responsible for an extremely wide climate range. The highest and lowest temperatures can range between -60 degrees F and 104 degrees F.  The variety of elevations and climates means that the state is also prone to harsh weather.  This requires residents of the state to protect their homes and vehicles through an Idaho home insurance and Idaho auto insurance policy.
