Iowa Insurance

Iowa, also known as the Hawkeye State, is one of the Midwestern states of the United States, with the Mississippi River as its eastern border, and the Missouri a part of the western border. The 29th state of the union, Iowa is the birthplace of President Herbert C. Hoover, the 31st president.

Iowa’s economy has always been dominated by farming, with some of the richest farmland in the United States, and farming and farming related industries still remain a major part of the economy. The farmlands occupy almost 90 % of the land area in Iowa and the major manufacturing industries include livestock feeds, food processing, industrial machinery, and electronic equipment. In the later part of the 20th century, the economy diversified leading to today’s mix of farm and manufacturing based economy.  This specialized economy requires individuals in the farming industry to purchase their own Iowa health insurance and Iowa life insurance, developing a need to find Iowa insurance at affordable rates.  They also require specialized Iowa home insurance policies that will protect both their homes and their barns and other buildings.  Additionally, farms will also purchase Iowa crop insurance to protect their crop investments and livelihood.

With an area of about 150,000 square miles, Iowa has a generally flat or gently rolling geography. The northeast region has deep streams and hills that may rise to 100 to 120 m above the Mississippi River. Most of Iowa is made up of rolling lands formed by glacial deposits. Almost all of the rivers in the state are tributaries of the Mississippi or the Missouri, and Iowa has a number of natural and artificial lakes. The climate is continental with hot, wet summers and cold, dry winters. Snowstorms and blizzards are common in winter, making Iowa home insurance, Iowa auto insurance and Iowa life insurance an important part of the economy, along with Iowa health insurance. Droughts causing widespread crop losses every 20 years or so, make insurance even more vital.

Iowa has an estimated 3,000,000 people. The major cities are the state capital, Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Davenport and Waterloo, with the population being a mix of many ethnic communities. Principal components of the population are people of Caucasian, African American, Native American, Korean, Chinese, Laotian, Asian Indian, Latino, and Vietnamese descent. The Illinois, Iowa, Sac, and Fox peoples were the first Native American inhabitants. France was the first nation to explore the territories, in 1673, with the first permanent settlement being established in Iowa in 1788. It became a US possession in 1803 and became the 29th state of the union in December 1846. In the American Civil War, Iowa supported the Union.
