Kentucky Insurance
Kentucky, or the Bluegrass State, is officially called the Commonwealth of Kentucky. It is one of the eastern states of the United States of America. The Ohio River is the entire northern boundary of Kentucky, while the Big Sandy and Tug Fork rivers are a major part of the eastern border. The Mississippi River forms the western boundary of Kentucky. The state entered the Union in 1792, and became the 15th state. Kentucky remained in the Union, at least officially, during the American Civil War, but many of its citizens actually fought on the side of the Confederate army. Mainly a farming state, in the mid-20th century, services and manufacturing became major parts of the economy for Kentucky producing a growing requirement for adequate Kentucky health insurance and Kentucky life insurance policies in the state.
Livestock, and livestock products like beef, milk, pigs, eggs, and chickens, provide almost half of Kentucky’s annual farm income. The state is also famous for breeding thoroughbred racehorses. Hardwood trees like oak and hickory are part of the states timber output. Major manufacturing includes industrial machinery, processed foods, electronic equipment and transport equipment, clothing and textiles, cars, chemicals, and rubber, and plastic products. Kentucky is also a renowned producer of whiskey. Kentucky has an area of 40,411 square miles and its geography is divided into three main geographical regions; The Gulf Coastal Plain, the Interior Low Plateau, and the Appalachian or Cumberland Plateau. Western Kentucky is a part of the Gulf Coastal Plain and is also called the Jackson Purchase because General Andrew Jackson, who later became President of the United States, acquired the area from the Native American Chickasaw people in 1818, as a representative of the federal government. The climate in Kentucky is temperate, with warm summers and cool winters. The natural disasters in the areas are a mixture of thunderstorms and the occasional tornado. Despite these infrequent occurrences it is required by law that Kentucky residents maintain Kentucky auto insurance on their vehicles and Kentucky home insurance on thier houses.
Among the attractions in the state, are the Mammoth Cave National Park and several sites of historical interest, including the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Site, the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park, and Shakertown at Pleasant Hill, which preserves much of the shaker settlement of the 19th century. Museums include the John James Audubon Museum, the J. B. Speed Art Museum, the Museum of Natural History and Science, and the Kentucky Derby Museum. |
