Missouri Insurance

The state of Missouri, also known as the Show-Me State, is one of the Midwestern states. It has the Mississippi River as most of its eastern boundary, and the Missouri River as its entire northwestern boundary. Missouri entered the Union, as the 24th state, in 1821. In spite of being a slaveholding state, Missouri was a steady part of the Union during the American Civil War.

Traditionally, the economy of Missouri was dependent on agriculture, but in the 1990s the focus shifted to the dominant service industries like Missouri auto insurance, and Missouri health insurance, in addition to manufacturing of aircraft and motor vehicles. Missouri is a leading state in the raising of beef cattle and dairy cows, while forestry, of pine timber is an important part of the economy. The state has an area of 69,709 square miles. The geography of Missouri is roughly four regions -- the Ozark Plateau, the Osage Plains, the Dissected Till Plains, and the Mississippi Alluvial Plain, making the Missouri land surface the most diverse of the Midwestern states. The Ozark Plateau occupies most of southern Missouri and is a rugged with mountains in the southeast and limestone bedrock, which dissolves easily, leading to extensive underground caverns with thousands of springs flowing from them. The Osage Plains are gently sloping and the Dissected Till Plains are flatlands. Major rivers include the Mississippi and Missouri, along with Grand, Chariton, Osage, Gasconade, and Meramec. There are no large natural lakes. The climate of Missouri is a humid and moderate continental type of climate.
